Message from the Principal
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are off to a wonderful start for the 2008 – 2009 school year and I want to thank you for all of your support. Our back to school night cookout was well attended and everyone had a wonderful time. The staff had an opportunity to meet parents and students. Parents were introduced to new staff and returning staff. Our Parent Teacher Association and parent volunteers helped plan, cook, and carry-out this festive event. Thank you again to our PTA!!
You may have talked with your child about what he or she is doing in school every day. We are working on creating a shared vision or common understanding about how our school operates and what expectations are surrounding our school day. The first weeks of school have been spent learning names, getting acquainted with a schedule, creating classroom rules that all students agree to follow, and working in teams. Academic exploration of our curriculum has been introduced and students are learning how to find information and use their classroom resources. Please ask your child to tell you about the community building activities they are participating in during their school day. We will continue to build our community and culture around our STARR – safety, truth, achievement, respect, and responsibility - throughout this school year. As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Daily School Reading Goal
Students are expected to read each night. “Read with the Stars” is our school goal and students meeting their individual goals will be rewarded with a mid-year pizza party and spring ice cream picnic. Daily reading has the highest level of impact on student success at school and in future life endeavors. Please be sure to ask your child what they are reading in school. Feel free to contact teachers to find out specifics about each grade levels reading goal.
Have a wonderful day!
Christopher Benisch
